    Our position:

Equipment manufactured and supplied by Amelec fall into Control and monitoring equipment, category 9 as listed in Annex IA of WEEE directive and therefore are exempt from RoHS directive. There are many reasons for this category's exclusion, one that we share our views with is the impact on reliability and so called whiskering phenomenon from using Tin only solder. For more details on this visit www.sourceesb.com.

We fully support RoHS directive that help reduce Health risk and damage to the environment, however after digesting information for and against published in the press on RoHS and also taking into consideration our customers views and concerns, our policy is to continue using Tin/Lead based solder and will only change if the directive make it a requirement for our type of products. We will meet parts of RoHS requirement that does not impact the quality / reliability of our products.
